Performance
The base engine on the 2018 GMC Sierra is a 4.3L V6 that delivers a total of 285 horsepower. The engine is paired to a six-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel drive is standard. Buyers can choose all-wheel drive regardless of trim level or cab/bed configuration. A 5.3L V8 rated at 355 horsepower is standard on the SLT and Denali trims.
If more power is needed, consider the 2500HD models. These come with a standard 6.0L V8 rated at 360 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. Uplevel trims are fitted with a turbocharged 6.6L V8 that produces a whopping 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque.
Interior
The interior of the 2018 GMC Sierra models is anything but bland. The seating area on the regular cab models is huge, and there's plenty of storage area behind the seats. The extended cab and crew cab models have four door and can seat up to six. Power windows, cruise control, and air conditioning is standard across the trim lineup. Even the base trim comes with a rearview camera, Bluetooth, and a 7-inch screen display.
The base model can also be purchased with the Sierra Convenience package that adds on a 110-volt AC outlet and an LED cargo box lighting system. If 4G LTE connectivity and a Wi-Fi hotspot is desired, the Elevation Edition is the model to consider. Leather upholstery and heated front seats are standard on the SLT trim, and the extended and crew cab versions of the SLT are also eligible for the All-Terrain X package.
Safety
All 2018 GMC Sierra models come with a full set of front- and side-impact airbags, stability and traction control, and a rearview camera. Front and rear parking sensors are optional on the SLT trim and standard with any of the available driver assist packages. The packages include forward collision warning with emergency braking, lane departure warning and intervention, and performance alerts.
