Powertrain

Engineered to produce up to 310 horsepower, a 3.6 L engine block is available in the 2019 Acadia. Spark Ignition Direct Injection is integrated into this naturally aspirated V6 powertrain. When revolving at 5,000 RPM, the six-cylinder engine cranks out 271 lb-ft of peak torque. The Active Fuel Management also contributes to efficient combustion under normal driving conditions. Rated at 310 hp and 266 lb-ft, a 3.6 L V6 engine is optional in the 2019 Chevy Traverse. However, the car's automatic stop/start technology doesn't fully match the efficiency of the Active Fuel Management. Both SUVs have variable valve timing (VVT) for optimum strokes in the valvetrain. Powered by the ECOTEC technology, the 2019 Acadia's four-cylinder engine displaces 2.5 L on a complete combustion cycle. This I-4 gas engine has maximum ratings of 193 hp and 188 lb-ft. When you disengage the accelerator pedal, the powertrain automatically shuts off to conserve gas. Both SUVs are also compatible with E10 fuel, which includes a blend of up to 10 percent ethanol.

Driving Experience

The signature Traction Select System is linked to an electronic dial in the center console of the 2019 Acadia. You can select the AWD Mode or Off-Road Mode for better traction on roads with rough surfaces or slippery spots. The Sport Mode enhances acceleration and overall handling at fast speeds. You can also activate the Trailer/Tow Mode that syncs the movement of a trailer with the drivetrain of this GMC SUV. A 4,000-pound towing rating is given to the vehicle's V6 engine. Having an all-new design, the Continuously Variable Real-Time Damping technology boosts the performance of the suspension system. Large stabilizer bars also compensate for excessive swaying and lateral motion in the struts or other attached components. The Acadia also has the Hill Descent Control, which is activated by an electronic button near the rotary dial for the Traction Select System. Available with AWD, the 2019 Chevy Traverse doesn't have as many custom modes that are tailored for off-road performance.

Technology

The GMC Infotainment System in the 2019 Acadia has an 8-inch display with touch-sensitive technology and classic hard buttons. Having an identical screen size, the 2019 Traverse's Chevrolet Infotainment System also offers a touch-sensitive experience. Both vehicles have 4G LTE WiFi and other smartphone connections, such as Android Auto and Bluetooth. A GPS navigation program with colored maps is another high-tech feature that's included in the infotainment systems of these premium SUVs.
