MSRP is the lowest among new 2026 trucks in our Renton inventory on October 5, 2026, including installed options, and excludes tax, title, license and dealer fees. Towing and payload are GMC’s maximum available ratings for 2026 and depend on cab, bed, engine and equipment.
Which Sierra do you need for your trailer?
Start with the loaded weight of what you tow. Each step up the ladder is the lightest Sierra that GMC rates for that weight.

Sierra 1500 and Sierra HD engines compared
Torque is what moves a trailer. The Sierra HD’s 6.6L Duramax makes 975 lb-ft, nearly double the strongest Sierra 1500 engine.

Every Sierra HD uses an Allison 10-speed automatic. More on the diesel: Duramax diesel trucks in Renton.

Is a Sierra 2500 HD too big for daily driving around Seattle?
It is noticeably longer. A Crew Cab Sierra 1500 with the standard bed is about 20 feet long, while a Crew Cab Sierra 2500 HD with the long bed is about 22 feet 3 inches.
241.5 in
Sierra 1500 Crew Cab, standard bed
266.8 in
Sierra 2500 HD Crew Cab, long bed
96.6 in
Sierra 3500 HD width with dual rear wheels
That matters on the ferry. Washington State Ferries charges its standard vehicle fare under 22 feet, so the long-bed Crew Cab HD moves into the length-based fare, while the Sierra 1500 does not. It also matters in parking garages in Seattle and Bellevue and in a standard home garage.
If you tow a few weekends a year and drive to work the rest, the Sierra 1500 is the easier truck. If the trailer is your work, the HD earns its size.
How much do the Sierra 1500 and 2500 HD cost in Renton?
